ottoman lantern explored the combination of traditional lantern making and digital fabrication of structural form. The ottoman is conceived as a seat for meditation facilitating the flow of energy to and from the body. The wooden frame was CNC milled from a piece of baltic birch. Rings of stainless steel rods were measured and cut from the digital file to create a shell for the rice paper skin. An upholstered canvas seat is inset into the wooden frame and can be removed to access the lights.
